Small group training sessions now available at UC Campus Rec
Join the Bearcat Training Club and kickstart your fitness routine
January is the time when many people begin to focus on exercise programs. Knowing where to begin can be a challenge for some people, while others struggle with consistency.
Campus Recreation has created a new small group personal training option, The Bearcat Training Club, to help solve both of these problems.
"Small group personal training can give you accountability, group support and professional expertise while keeping expenses down," says Joe Schillero, assistant director of Fitness & Wellness for Campus Recreation. "A trainer can provide encouragement, energy, motivation, and help you set, and reach your goals without breaking your budget."
Groups will consist of three to five people. Each session will include a dynamic warm-up, strength training movements, cardiovascular training, and flexibility/mobility at the end of the session.
The personal trainer will assess the fitness levels of the group and organize the workouts with movements that everyone can perform, as well as provide modifications to each movement so the varying fitness levels can all be challenged while staying safe and working within their abilities.
Classes begin Jan. 21 and are offered two times a week for eight weeks (16 sessions). The group will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6 p.m in the Fitness Studio, (Racquetball Court 7).
Registration for the Bearcat Training Club is $200 for a Campus Recreation member, and $256 for a non-member. Registration includes a fitness assessment, Campus Recreation T-shirt, and water bottle.
Registration is available online or in-person at Member Services. Additional session times can be added as needed. Contact Joe Schillero for more information.
Individual personal training sessions are also available. During the month of January, get one free personal training session for every five session packages purchased. This promotion is available at both Campus Rec locations.
