Emergency funds created to support UC students during a time of need

Supporting Bearcats during a crisis

With many changes due to the COVID-19 outbreak affecting the University of Cincinnati and UC Health communities, the UC Foundation has created a portal for emergency funds to support areas of highest need for students and other highly impacted areas.

UC has taken decisive measures to ensure everyone’s health and safety, including canceling in-person classes, and closing university and dining facilities for the rest of the semester. These closures could have far-reaching effects, as some students are now facing extenuating circumstances related to housing, food and other vital resources.

“That’s why we’re pulling together to help our fellow UC students and UC Health community,” said Logan Lindsey, the incoming UC student government president for 2020-2021.

In a video message, Lindsey, along with Chandler Rankin, the outgoing UC Student Government President, urged their fellow Bearcats to support critical areas of need for UC students.

“The UC Foundation has established a Student Emergency Fund, which will provide financial assistance to those who are experiencing a hardship due to this crisis. No matter the amount, your gift to this fund will be put to immediate use for students in need,” said Rankin.

The collaboration with UC Student Government and the Division of Student Affairs includes several funds targeted toward student well-being and immediate needs.

Additional resources include:

  • UC Student Emergency Fund – provides currently enrolled students with financial assistance related to the COVID-19 outbreak and campus closures.
  • Bearcats Pantry – the Bearcats Pantry provides free food, hygiene items and cleaning supplies to students. The pantry is providing service on a limited schedule.
  • Clermont Bearcats Pantry – the Bearcats Pantry for the UC Clermont campus, providing free food, hygiene items and cleaning supplies to students. The Clermont Bearcats Pantry will remain open during university closure amid high demand.
  • UC Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) – UC CAPS is remaining open to provide mental health services (e.g., self-help education, counseling, crisis care) over the phone to UC students.
  • UC Health Greatest Need Fund – supporting the greatest needs of UC Health.
