Get to know CCM's new technical director
An experienced technical theatre professional, Troy Brizius joins CCM's staff on Aug. 15
UC’s College-Conservatory of Music will welcome a new member to its team of performing and media arts professionals this fall: Troy A. Brizius will join the college as its staff technical director on Aug. 15, 2022.

Prior to joining CCM, Brizius served as the technical director for the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park for seven years, followed by brief stints as a project manager for the Museums and Permanent Install division of ADEX International and as an AutoCAD designer for the Conservatory and Research Division of Prospiant.
Brizius has also served as a project manager/technical director for the John Houseman Acting Company (three national tours), the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company, Goodspeed Musicals, Surflight Theatre and the university of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) Summer Series in Manteo, NC.
Additionally, Brizius was an instructor on the faculty of UNCSA for five years, serving as the faculty technical director and teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in scenic technology disciplines.
Brizius has an MFA in Technical Direction from North Carolina School of the Arts. He is a Journeyman member of IATSE 635 and a founding member of the Weston Regatta.
In his role as staff technical director at CCM, Brizius will be responsible for the supervision and implementation of the scenery, rigging and flying elements for various CCM departments. He will also supervise and teach students in classes, productions, and work-study positions.
"Troy Brizius' experience as both a technical theatre professional and an arts educator makes him an ideal addition to CCM's Division of Theatre Arts, Production and Arts Administration (TAPAA)," said Interim TAPAA Division Head Rebecca Bromels. "Please join me in welcoming Troy to our team."
Brizius’ search committee included Bromels, Ray Dobson, Deborah Neiheisel-DeZarn, Todd Pettiford, Mandy Powell (chair) and Stirling Shelton.
