1000Zebras joins forces with 1819 Innovation Hub

A digital marketplace is an online space where financial transactions occur. It solves the issue of being in a specific geolocation by connecting people who want something in demand (buyers) with those who have a service or product to sell (suppliers). Think Airbnb.

“Marketplaces — such as Airbnb, Uber and Amazon — don’t own any of the supply," Kevin Mackey, 1000Zebras founder and CEO, said. "Their primary function is to create a safe environment, allowing the supply and demand sides to transact efficiently and seamlessly within that environment. 1000Zebras does that but is also like Spotify, allowing you to look at others’ marketplaces to add service providers to your own, kind of like a playlist.”

Recently, 1000Zebras hosted the Accelerated Co-working event, which brought together students, faculty, investors and corporate partners. At the intersection of innovation and entrepreneurship, this event provided a unique setting for innovative-minded individuals to spark interactions and cultivate genuine collaborations.

Participants joined with others during the event's designated breakout sessions within the 1819 Innovation Hub building. Tackling (non-confidential) challenges, attendees gained the problem-solving perspectives of others working on the same project. The task aimed to show how professionals within the same industry or internal departments are often unaware of what others are working on unless specifically asked.
