Bridging the gap between oncology and primary care
Cancer Center expert featured in Cancer Therapy Advisor article
The University of Cincinnati Cancer Center's Melissa Erickson was featured in a Cancer Therapy Advisor article discussing the importance of oncology and primary care synergy to support cancer survivors.
Erickson and colleagues launched the Cancer Center's oncology primary care clinic, one of the only clinics of its kind in the country, in 2021.
“Robust survivorship care is important because cancer patients have a unique set of medical needs,” said Erickson, MD, director of cancer survivorship and supportive services at the Cancer Center and adjunct assistant professor in UC's College of Medicine. “When these needs are unmet, the quality of life of these survivors is diminished.”
