DTS introduces new IT Service Desk hours
UC Digital Technology Solutions is shifting the IT Service Desk hours to better serve UC students, faculty, and staff.
Starting Wednesday, Oct. 29, IT Service Desk standard operating hours will be Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Service Desk will provide on-call support for major IT incidents and emergencies that could significantly impact university-wide services or operations outside standard hours, including weekends and university holidays.
Support ticket and call data from the last several years show peak demand for IT Service Desk support occurs weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. By concentrating full-time staff during peak demand, DTS aims to reduce wait times and ensure more support requests reach a technician.
“We will continue to monitor support trends and feedback,” said UC Vice President & Chief Digital Officer Bharath Prabhakaran. “Our goal is to make data-informed service delivery improvements that provide reliable, accessible, and responsive IT support for all members of the UC community.”
