UC Clermont s Calico Theatre Presents Children s Shows and Creative Workshops

A Box of Shel Silverstein presented by Know Theatre

A Box of Shel Silverstein is an interactive group poetry game for 30 or 300. More than 60 poems from the popular Silverstein books - Where the Sidewalk Ends, Falling Up, and A Light in the Attic are performed by three actors and volunteers from the audience in a show that’s hilarious, fast-paced and different every time. Poems are whispered, whistled and even tapped. From rapping about unicorns to creating dances to go along with poems, A Box of Shel Silverstein is a slice of heaven that everyone will enjoy! Recommended ages: Grades K–6. Tickets prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children, seniors and UC students. Performances will take place in the Krueger Auditorium located in the Snyder Building on the UC Clermont College Campus.
 
 
Poetry Rhythm and Rhyme workshop presented by Know Theatre

Peters-Jones Building, Student Lounge
This workshop explores the rhythm and rhyme of poetry and how to find the musicality inherent in certain poetry. Workshop leaders will guide participants through a process of identifying rhyme scheme to find the rhythm of the piece. Small groups will be formed to create their own “musical” poetry performance led by the Know Theatre actors. Partici¬pants will have their moment in the spotlight as they perform the poetry piece created by their group. Recommended ages: Grades 1–5 (Maximum attendance is 40)
 
The workshops are designed to compliment the performance and engage children and parents through the artistic learning process. Attendance at the performance is not required to register for a workshop. The cost of the workshop is $4 per person.
 
 
The Dreamweavers presented by Madcap Puppets

Two dream sprites, Artravia, the sprite of nightmares and Diaphone, the sprite of good dreams, want to create their own dreams. They escape from their boss, the Sandman, and put the whole audience to sleep! The dreams they create include stories from around the world. Will the sprites dream their dreams before the Sandman finds them? Fall asleep and find out! Stories include: The Magic Axe (China), The Waterman of Scotland and Monstritos Banditos (Spain). Recommended ages: Grades pre K–6. Tickets prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children, seniors and UC students. Performances will take place in the Krueger Auditorium located in the Snyder Building on the UC Clermont College Campus.

 

Puppet Building workshop presented by Madcap Puppets

Children are able to build and take home their very own pup¬pets! With the help of a parent, the Madcap artist leads children on an exciting, creative adventure where they can create their own puppet. Recommended ages: Grades K–5 (Maximum attendance is 40)

Calico Children’s Theatre is a UC Clermont College community initiative geared towards families with children ages 3-12 years of age.
