UC Marketing Professor Receives National Award
University of Cincinnati Assistant Marketing Professor Joshua Clarkson will be honored with an Early Career Award by the
Society for Personality and Social Psychology
. The award will be presented at the groups national convention in San Antonio, Texas, on January 19-21.
Clarkson will receive the award for his research contribution to the field of attitudes and social influence (two cornerstone areas in consumer psychology).
Clarkson will also present his research at the conference entitled,"Influencing those who influence us." The research, he says, is based on several working papers focused on understanding who experts turn to (or are persuaded by) when they need guidance.

Accounting professor Adam Olson recently published a study in the journal of Accounting, Organizations and Society called, “The effect of political connections on COVID-19 stimulus.” Using the COVID-19 stimulus checks as reference, his team looked at how much benefit companies got if they donated to certain PACs. This dataset was a new opportunity to measure direct impact, as usually benefits from donations take the form of tax breaks or new laws down the road, not a direct deposit of cash.
