CCM Wind Studies Presents 21st Annual PRISM Concert March 25

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music presents the 21st installment of its annual

PRISM

concert, a 60-minute musical revue featuring CCM Wind Studies, Jazz Studies and Preparatory and Community Engagement. The annual concert is at

4 p.m.

this

Sunday, March 25, 2018

in CCM's

Corbett Auditorium

.

This year’s program includes performances by the CCM Wind Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, CCM Brass Choir, the Miles Davis Collective, the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble and a solo performance by nine-year-old pianist Sophia Suwiryo, a CCM Prep student

who recently performed with the Cincinnati Pops

.

“This concert is packed with exciting performances by gifted performers” says

Terence Milligan

, CCM’s Interim Director of Wind Studies and Professor Emeritus of Music. “In fact, the concert moves so quickly from one work to another that there will be no time for applause until the end.”

PRISM will use all of Corbett Auditorium as its stage, with acts performing in front of the curtain while large ensembles move into position on stage. The concert is fast-past and riveting, as well as a prime opportunity for new and returning CCM patrons to discover ensembles and genres that pique their interest.

“Our target audience includes anyone who enjoys good performances by fine players, from jazz, to brass choirs, to concert bands, to flute duets, to trumpet quartets and anything in between,” Milligan says.

The addition of CCM Preparatory and the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble to PRISM this year is an exciting change from previous years, which will serve as an opportunity for CCM Preparatory students and parents to become better acquainted with the musical life of CCM as the young students share their talents with CCM patrons.
