Medical Students Go Bald to Support Cancer Research

Nearly 30 UC College of Medicine students shaved their heads in support of cancer research during the annual St. Baldrick’s Day event, held March 29 at O'Bryon's Irish Pub in O'Bryonville.

The event, which featured green beer and live music by medical students, benefited the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity that funds childhood cancer research grants. To date, participants have raised $12,705.

"It was a wonderful experience to be a part of this event, and I hope we can make the event an even greater success next year!, " remarked second-year medical student Melanie Friess who served as a co-one of four co-coordinators from the medical college.
