UC's newest living learning community, the Dr. P. Eric Abercrumbie Living Learning Community (ALLC), was formally announced yesterday at a dedication ceremony held at the African American Cultural & Resource Center. The ALLC will host approximately 80 first-year students who have been accepted into the Darwin T. Turner Scholars Program and/or the Transitions Program. Participants will live in an environment that fosters personal and social identity development, leadership engagement, and academic success.

The UC Women’s Center is now accepting nominations for the 2019 C-Ring Women’s Leadership Award. This award, a 10-karat gold ring, represents a legacy of UC undergraduate women who exemplify advocacy for women and girls, commitment to the university and the community, and academic excellence.

The University of Cincinnati was recognized by the American Cancer Society with the Guardians of the Campus Environment award. The award, applied for by the Student Wellness Center, was provided by UC because of the tobacco environmental scans done by staff in the Student Wellness Center, Be Well UC, UC Blue Ash, and UC Clermont. These groups have examined tobacco use in various locations around UC's campuses through the use of environmental scanning; tobacco use was recorded to identify campus "hot spots" where tobacco use is high.
