The University of Cincinnati Alumni Association has announced this year’s recipients of its highest honors for UC alumni. The 2026 honorees include: Vinod K. Dham, CEAS ’77; Thomas D. Cassady, A&S ’76, Hon ’19; Padma Chebrolu, CECH ’92; Ryan C. Marable, PharmD, Phar ’13. Each year, the UC Alumni Association (UCAA) honors a select few of its more than 360,000 alumni based on their career accomplishments and contributions to the university and community, recognizing them during Alumni Week festivities each spring.

Bearcat love stories are as unique as the couples who live them. They can begin with a sports activity or a social function. They can take root when a relative steps in to facilitate a pairing that clearly is meant to be. Or, in a once-in-a-million stroke of luck, they can begin when someone says hello to “the girl next door.” As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, four alumni couples share their Bearcat love stories—personal tales of romance, devotion and continued engagement with UC.

Emma Scharfenberger Off, Law ’11, never saw the fork in the road until it was right in front of her. She was flourishing as a mergers and acquisitions attorney at Thompson Hine, one of the region’s largest law firms. She loved her work, loved her colleagues and — not yet 40 years old — had been named one of the top M&A lawyers in Ohio.

University of Cincinnati Homecoming activities on Saturday, Oct. 25, will feature the annual Homecoming Parade around campus and the football game versus Baylor University in UC’s Historic Nippert Stadium.

The UC Alumni Association has been administering the C-Paw License Plate Program since 2002. By paying the annual special-plate fee of $35, drivers can demonstrate their Bearcat pride on the road while automatically sending $25 from the fee back to UC to fund student scholarships.

The University of Cincinnati family lost one of its most outstanding Bearcats with the July 15 passing of Bill Mulvihill, Bus ’70. Over the last half-century, few people have been as involved in, committed to, and passionate about the University of Cincinnati as Bill. His impact on his alma mater has been incalculable.

Eight notable University of Cincinnati alumni have been named by the Cincinnati Business Courier to its annual “Forty Under 40” Class for 2025. For three decades, the Business Courier has showcased Cincinnati’s next generation of leaders from a wide range of fields, including medical, engineering, business, and the arts.

Upon being introduced by UC President Neville Pinto as the 2025 recipient of the William Howard Taft Medal for Notable Achievement at the UC Alumni Celebration in April, Darrell Miller gave in to the understandable urge within him, given his surroundings. There in historic Cincinnati Music Hall, he paused a moment, then belted out several bars of Nessun dorma from the Puccini opera Turandot, showing off a set of pipes that don’t get exercised all that often these days but remain mainstage-worthy.

Each year, the UC Alumni Association recognizes and celebrates the many contributions and overall excellence of UC alumni in countless fields of endeavor, throughout the world. Next year’s slate of honorees will be recognized during Alumni Week, April 13-18, 2026 at the UC Alumni Celebration. The UC Alumni Association is currently accepting nominations for its top awards through July 16.
