WVXU to re-broadcast CCM Radio Theatre plays on Tuesday, Dec. 27

Cincinnati Public Radio and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) have named UC alumnus Cedric Rose winner of the inaugural CCM Radio Theatre playwright competition. The top three winners will receive a cash prize for their work and have their play produced by CCM for broadcast on 91.7 WVXU-FM in spring 2022.

More than 43 students come together to perform four different pieces excerpts from Gazunov’s Raymonda, Tchaikovsky’s “Waltz of the Flowers” from The Nutcracker, and two premieres choreographed by CCM faculty artists — Who We Are and Mozart Mix.

UC’s College Conservatory of Music continues its Musical Theatre Series with the hit Broadway show, Something Rotten!. Originally premiered in 2015 and nominated for 10 Tony Awards, the raucous Renaissance farce runs Oct. 20-23 and Oct. 27-30, 2022, at CCM’s Patricia Corbett Theater. As The New York Times put it, Something Rotten! is “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years.”

In Memoriam: Trailblazing trombonist Betty Glover, CCM alumna...

The University of Cincinnati is saddened to share news of the passing of CCM alumna and former faculty member Betty Glover. As one of the first female orchestral trombonists in the country, Glover made a significant impact in the world of music and enjoyed an incredible career. She passed away on Sept. 27, 2022, at the age of 99.

UC College-Conservatory of Music Composition Professor Michael Fiday will be celebrated in a retrospective program presented by concert:nova, a Cincinnati-based ensemble dedicated to innovative performances. The concert takes place on Saturday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Myaamia Hall at ARCO Cincinnati, and will feature a wide selection of the Fiday’s award-wining output. Tickets are available online.
