UC researchers work to understand how extreme heat impacts older adults

University of Cincinnati College of Medicine researchers are working to understand how extreme summer heat affects older adults’ health, as reported by 91.7 WXVU News recently. George Leikauf, PhD, co-director of UC's Center for Collaboration on Climate and Community for Health (C4H) and a professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine, is leading a study to track the health of older Cincinnatians who live without air conditioning during heat waves.

Aerospace engineering students win engine design competition

Each year, the Air Force Research Laboratory's Aerospace Propulsion Outreach Program (APOP) develops an engineering challenge for college students across the nation. The 2026 challenge was to design a heat exchanger for a small gas turbine engine. The University of Cincinnati student team placed first. The team adviser was Professor Jongguen Lee.

UC grad brings unique perspective to criminal justice work

The child of a police lieutenant, Ashley grew up going on ride-alongs with her dad, learning about the work he did out on the beat. She earned her MS in criminal justice from UC and went on to pursue a doctorate focused on correctional rehabilitation, which she ultimately decided to forgo after four years of study. In 2012, Ashley launched Bauman Consulting Group, a criminal justice consulting firm serving law enforcement, courts, corrections, and related public and social sector agencies.
