Kea Brown, she/her, is a Staff Clinician located at UC CAPS Calhoun location. She graduated from the Hawai‘i School of Professional Psychology at Chaminade University of Honolulu with a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Miami University Student Counseling Service in Oxford, OH; and her post-doctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University Counseling Center in Nashville, TN. She is working toward licensure as a clinical psychologist in the state of Ohio.

Kea values the diversity in individual human experiences. She has strong clinical interests in navigating relational distress and identity development. Through the use of humanistic and systemic approaches to therapy, she collaboratively explores helpful/adaptive ways to organize different experiences, while empowering students to acknowledge their unique strengths. Her goal is to create a safe and inclusive environment conducive to navigating stressors and consider realistic adaptive alternatives.

What I do to take care of myself after a challenging day/time/situation: Cook a good meal, unwind with a good TV show or movie, and get a good night’s rest

Coping skills I recommend to clients that I actually use myself: Taking deep breaths, going for walks, listening to music, and checking in with herself
