$89 / One Class

Instructor: Kevin McCarty

Willem de Kooning is one of the most important painters at work in the middle of our century and a key figure in Abstract Expressionism. Speaking of his work, de Kooning said, “I’m not interested in abstracting … I paint this way because I can keep putting more things in it - drama, anger, pain, love, a figure, a horse, my ideas about space. Through your eyes it again becomes an emotion or idea.” de Kooning influenced an entire generation of painters.

Come to this class and, with the guidance of your instructor, tap into your individuality and explore your own creative response to this iconic image of 20th century art. Work off the image of Two Women on the Wharf to create your own variation of the painting.

One gallery-wrapped, stretched 11 x 14” fine art canvas, a set of brushes, and a full set of acrylic paints in a wide spectrum of colors are included in the class fee. Take home your own original piece of art ready for framing.
