Learn to Swim Classes

Participants of all swim levels are welcome to enroll in Learn to Swim classes. Our experienced swim lesson instructors are ready to help you or your child take the next steps to become confident in and around the water. Limited spots are available!

Adult lessons are available in 2 levels: Beginner and Intermediate. To ensure that applicants are in the appropriate level, participants are asked to demonstrate their swimming abilities, and to outline their personal goals.

Adult lesson registration fils quickly, please register in advance if you wish to participate.

In this level, participants will combine several basic skills and begin moving towards full swimming stroke development. Participants should be able to float on their back and front and have some breath control under the water.  The class will begin working on kicking and other locomotion techniques before moving on towards combining those skills into full strokes.

At this level, participants will work on refining technique of several strokes including front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. Open turns, proper body position, and breathing techniques will be emphasized. Participants will be swimming the width of the pool (25 yards) as they work on their skills.

Group and Private youth Learn to Swim is available for swimmers of all levels. To find the class that best meets the needs of your swimmer - follow the information in the accordions below.

Baby's First Splash - Child age typically 6-24mo

A 30-minute class designed for one adult and one child to receive instruction on the introduction of the water, water safety, and tons of fun! This water comfortability class is designed to give a child a great first impression of water comfort and learn basic positioning. This is an opportunity to set them up for success with future water-based learning. 

Introduction to Water Skills - Age 2-5 year old 

This class level is designed to be a child's first opportunity to splash on their own! Under the supervision of experienced instructors, participants will develop the foundational skills they need to become self-sufficient swimmers. This class is designed to focus on early developmental skills like floating, entering/exiting the water, submerging below water, floating, and more!

Fundamental Water Skills - Age 4-6 years old

Re-enforce foundational skills and safety while introducing first concepts and strokes. participants will practice with assistance. Participants will be introduced to front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke.

Stroke Development - Age 5-7 years old

Swimmers will spend time refining front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke as well as being introduced to advanced swim skills like treading, diving, and flip turns. 

Stroke Improvement 

Intermediate swimmers will have time to perfect their swim strokes and be exposed to swim etiquette for recreational swimming. They will be exposed to advanced drills and techniques needed to become proficient swimmers.

We are now accepting requests for private swim lessons!

Private lessons include eight 45-minute private lessons that expire six months after purchase. Our private lesson instructors are certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors that will work closely with you and the swimmer to ensure high quality swim instruction. Private lessons are available for all swimmers over the age of 3 years old – including adults!

Once the form is complete, the aquatics staff will review the form and contact you within 5 business days to match you with an instructor.*
