Lifeguarding Certification Classes

Looking for a Part-time Job at the Rec? Good news! We provide free training* 
If you're a student aspiring to join the ranks of Campus Rec Center's dedicated employees, we've got your back. When you sign an employment agreement to work an average of 15 hours a week for the Summer Semester, we waive all expenses associated with the lifeguard certification course. Join our team and dive into a fantastic opportunity!

Pre Skill Dates (Must Attend one date)

 

  • Tuesday, March 31: 3-5pm
  • Friday, April 3: 10 a.m.-noon 
  • Monday, April 6: 5:30-7pm
  •  

    Class times (Must atend all the dates)

    • April 11: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
    • April 12: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
    • April 18: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
    • April 19: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

    Course Entrance Requirements

    1. 200 yard continuous swim, front crawl and/or breaststroke.
    2. Swim 20 yards to the deepest end of the pool, surface dive to 13.5 foot depth, retrieve a 10 pound brick, return to the surface and swim back to the starting point, keeping face at/ near surface, holding the 10 pound brick with both hands.
    3. Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.

    Lifeguard Pre-skill Practice Time

    Not feeling comfortable with these pre-course skills?  That's okay! We are also hosting a preskills prep course. Where we'll be going over the preskills and giving you a chance to practice them before you do them for real. This is NOT a requirement for entry into the Lifeguard Class. 

    Dates and Times:

    • March 24 - 4-5:30 p.m. 
    • March 27- 2:30-4 p.m.

    Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Classes

    Our American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course prepares participants to respond to breathing, cardiac, and first aid emergencies involving adults, children, and infants. This blended learning course includes an online portion that must be completed before attending the in-person skills session. It meets OSHA and other workplace certification requirements, and also fulfills requirements for certain academic courses. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a 2-year digital certification.

    Registration

    The total cost of $100 for nonmembers or $85 for members must be paid prior to the pre-skills assessment.

    This is a blended learning course. Part of the course requirement is to complete 3 hours of online training prior to the start of class. This will be sent to you via email.
