Looking to move your fitness to the next level? The Campus Recreation Center Aquatic Complex includes three bodies of water as well as individual and group swimming activities, see below for details!

The Pools

  • The lap pool is 50 meters by 22.88 meters (25 yards), has two 1 meter diving boards and a 3-meter diving board. Depth varies from 4 feet to 13.5 feet. Open recreation swim lanes are available, along with lanes used for swim practices. Check lap lane availability.
  • The shallow-water leisure pool has a zero-depth entry with a maximum depth of 3 1/2 feet. The leisure pool features a unique waterwall, current channel, vortex, and bubble couch.
  • The whirlpool temperature ranges from 101-104 degrees and seats up to 14 users. The design of these pools allows users a wide variety of options.

Youth Swim Lessons

Campus Recreation offers swim lessons for kids of all ages. Our instructors provide a safe and fun environment for children to develop their swimming skills.


Adult Swim Lessons

We are not currently offering swim lessons at this time. Please check back for more information.

Adult lessons are available in 2 levels: Beginner and Intermediate. To ensure that applicants are in the appropriate level, participants are asked to demonstrate their swimming abilities, and to outline their personal goals.


Hydro Fit

Join in on the fun of a high intensity water-based workout with low impact. Classes take place in the Leisure Pool’s shallow water. No swimming skills are necessary. Registration is ongoing.

Private & Semi-Private Classes

Waddell Center Aquatic Fitness Class

This course is designed to use all the water for both support and resistance. The class focuses on building strength and flexibility. All course fees are covered by the Waddell Center. Free Lifeguarding Certification Classes

Looking for a Part-time Job at the Rec this Summer? We will train you for free!**If you work an average of 15 hours over the 2022 Summer Season. All participants are required to pass a pre-skills test before the first class.  Must attend all class dates within the course. Please email autumn.cleverley@uc.edu to sign up.  Pay rate over summer semester is $12/hour.

Course Entrance Requirements

  1. 300 yard continuous swim, front crawl and/or breast stroke.
  2. Swim 20 yards to the deepest end of the pool, surface dive to 13.5 feet, retrieve a 10 pound brick, return to the surface and swim back to the starting point, keeping face at/ near surface, holding the 10 pound brick with both hands.
  3. Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.
