Marianne Cadio UHP Graduate, 2026
Marianne's UHP Journey
Marianne Cadio knew from the beginning that she wanted to approach her Architecture major from an international perspective. And she’s done just that: Cadio has completed three international co-ops (two in Japan, and one in France) as well as a full semester of study-abroad at the l'Ecole Nationale Superieur des Art Decoratifs in Paris.
Of the many places that UC and the UHP have taken her, Cadio thinks of Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects, the site of her Paris co-op, as the most fruitful—and the most challenging. Cadio’s co-op saw her not only working on a competition team, but also getting involved in translation and editing, an exhibition, photography, and helping design a bag for Dior. Cadio’s coworkers, who hailed from countries around the world, taught her about architecture and broader culture in nations she’d never visited; meanwhile, her technical skills got a strenuous workout.
“Traveling abroad and trying different aspects of the architecture field has allowed me to test what I was curious about and eventually pursue what I want,” Cadio says, adding that her exposure to editorial work during that Paris co-op is what “solidified my interest in publication and academic work.” There’s a clear through-line from that international editorial experience to the present day: Cadio hopes to attend graduate school for a Master’s of Architecture in Fall 2026, powered by the combination of “curiosity and uncertainty” that continues to drive her forward.
