Transfer Application

Applications are now open for students starting in Summer and Fall 2026. To be eligible for Fall 2026, you must submit your application before August 2, 2026.  All decisions will be made in early August.

This application requires responses to five essays, an unofficial copy of your transcript from your previous college/university, and an updated resume. We suggest you prepare these documents prior to starting the application. The five essay questions are provided below. 

All questions have a limit of no more than 2000 characters. You will not be able to submit an application that surpasses this limit.

1. Describe something you started, built, organized, or fixed that would not exist without you. What was your role, and what did it take to see it through?
2. Identify a complex problem you care about and have personally worked on. (A complex problem is usually ongoing and without an easy solution.) Describe how you’ve engaged with this problem, what you’ve done to understand and address it, and what your involvement has produced or changed.
3. Describe a significant failure, setback, or challenge you’ve faced. Focus less on the circumstance than on how you responded. What did you do, what did you learn, and how have you applied that lesson since?
4. Tell us about something you chose to learn or pursue entirely on your own, outside of any requirement. What drew you to learn this, how did you go about it, and where has that self-directed learning led you?
5. Why do you want to join the University Honors Program, and what would you bring to our community? Is there a skill, perspective, or experience that shapes who you are but doesn’t appear elsewhere in your application?
