Faham's UHP Journey

The summer he spent studying the Cincinnati music scene through UHP Discover was not Faham Tak’s first research-focused Honors Experience—the Economics major had previously completed a separate Discover project on sports betting and labor-market outcomes, as well as a self-designed experience on data trends in globalization.

But it was, by Tak’s own account, the one that made the biggest and most lasting impact on him. That research was supervised by a CCM faculty member, so it fell well outside the usual scope of Tak’s major; he describes it as “a passion project more than a work experience,” since, outside of school, he was “already involved quite a bit” in attending live shows by local bands. Developing skills in observation, interviews, and analysis gave Tak a new perspective on something he already loved.

Tak, who will apply to law schools in this year’s application cycle, looks back with gratitude on his time in the UHP. “It has helped me be more engaged in whatever I try to put effort toward,” he says, adding that it’s the relationships he’s formed with “with great, kind and capable people” here, just as much as the research opportunities, that have made his UHP experience memorable.
