Important: Applications are only reviewed for current–term eligibility. It is the student's responsibility to submit an application by the application deadline listed above. The application deadlines are strictly enforced, and submissions for past–term eligibility will not be considered.

Also note: Fee payment deadlines cannot be extended while a student’s residency application is being reviewed. Students may opt to pay by using the University’s tuition payment plan. Information on payment plans can be found on the Bursar's webpage.

Required Supporting Documentation

  • Copy of BOTH student’s and parent/spouse’s Ohio driver’s license/state ID
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Copy of parent/spouse’s federal & state tax returns for the most recent tax year
  • Current and past leases or deeds showing at least 12 consecutive months of Ohio domicile
  • Current Ohio vehicle registration
  • Copies of current immigration or Visa status for BOTH student and parent/spouse (if applicable)
  • Personal Income Declaration
  • Copy of student’s Ohio driver’s license/state ID
  • Copy of student’s federal & state tax returns for the most recent tax year
  • Current (and past) leases or deeds showing at least 12 consecutive months of Ohio domicile
  • Proof of financial resources for the past 12 months (e.g. paystubs showing Ohio tax withheld, unemployment benefits, state benefits, investments, financial aid, bank statements, etc.)
  • Current Ohio vehicle registration
  • Ohio voter registration
  • Copy of current immigration or Visa status (if applicable)
  • Copy of BOTH student’s and parent/spouse’s Ohio driver’s license/state ID
  • Letter from the student’s parent/spouse’s employer, printed on that organization’s letterhead stationery, affirming their full–time employment and specifying of transfer or hiring
  • Copy of parent/spouse’s pay stub showing year–to–date earnings and Ohio tax withholding
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Copy of parent/spouse’s federal & state tax returns for the most recent tax year
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student and parent/spouse are residing in Ohio
  • Current Ohio vehicle registration
  • Copies of current immigration or Visa status for BOTH student and parent/s
  • Copy of the “Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty” (i.e. DD Form 214, member 4) issued by the US Department of Defense
  • Current lease or deed establishing the student resides in Ohio (veteran and dependent must both live in Ohio)
  • If the student is a veteran’s dependent, a copy of the veteran claimant’s most recent federal income tax return (page 1 & 2); Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student is residing in Ohio
  • Copy of the letter/certificate of eligibility for GI Bill benefits
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student is residing in Ohio
  • Copy of the letter/certificate of eligibility for GI Bill benefits
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student is residing in Ohio
  • Copy of Tungsten-Network VR&E Enrollment Authorization Purchase Order or the letter/certificate of eligibility for GI Bill benefits
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student is residing in Ohio
  • Copy of student’s Ohio high school transcript or verification of student’s graduation on the high schools’ letterhead stationary (a copy of a high school diploma is not sufficient evidence of high school graduation)
  • Copy of current immigration or Visa status (if applicable)
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student is residing in Ohio
  • Copy of student’s certificate of high school equivalence
  • Copy of current immigration or Visa status (if applicable)
  • Copy of spouse/parent’s Leave and Earnings Statement
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Copy of parent’s federal tax returns (page 1 & 2) for the most recent tax year (if residency is based on parent)
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student is residing in Ohio
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student is residing in Ohio
  • Copy of official transcript—or—verification of degree on school letterhead
  • Copy of current immigration or Visa status (if applicable)
  • Personal Income Declaration
  • Copy of student’s Ohio driver’s license/state ID
  • Letter from the student’s employer, printed on that organization’s letterhead stationery, affirming their employment and specifying student’s date of hire, current salary, and the minimum number of hours they are required to work each week
  • Copy of student’s pay stub showing year-to-date earnings and Ohio tax withholding
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student is residing in Ohio
  • Copy of current immigration or Visa status (if applicable)
  • Copy of student’s or parent’s Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) or Ohio income tax return
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Copy of parent’s federal tax returns (page 1 & 2) for the most recent year (if residency is based on parent)
  • Copy of service member’s current military orders for Ohio
  • Current lease or deed establishing that the student is residing in Ohio
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Copy of parent’s federal tax returns (page 1 & 2) for the most recent tax year (if residency is based on parent)
  • Letter from employer, printed on that organization’s letterhead stationary, affirming that the employee was an Ohio resident at the time of the transfer, date employee was transferred outside of the United States, anticipated date of return to the United States/duration of assignment, and employer contact information
  • Copy of employee’s federal & state tax returns for the most recent year
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Letter from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services verifying that the migrant worker has been working in Ohio at least four months during each of the previous three years
  • Copy of employee’s federal & state tax returns for the most recent year
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Copy of student’s Ohio driver’s license/state ID
  • Copy of tax form for the year prior to entering the community service organization and a letter from the community service organization verifying the start and end dates in the program (VISTA, AmeriCorps, City Year, Peace Corps, Teach for America)
  • Copy of employee’s federal & state tax returns for the most recent tax year
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Copy of court papers verifying that legal action to end the marriage has been taken
  • Notarized letter that includes the following information: dates you or your parent/legal guardian has lived in Ohio, and the years you or your parent/legal guardian has paid taxes in Ohio
  • Current and past leases or deeds showing at least 12 consecutive months of Ohio domicile for the qualifying parent/guardian
  • Copy of parent's/legal guardian's Ohio personal income tax return (pages 1 and 2) for the most recent tax year
  • Copy of the enlistment papers or an official letter from the personnel officer verifying enlistment
  • Copy of marriage certificate (if residency is based on spouse)
  • Copy of parent’s federal tax returns (page 1 & 2) for the most recent tax year (if residency is based on parent)

Personal Income Declaration Requirements

If you are submitting an Ohio Residency Application and requesting residency under a C2 or E1 classification, you will be asked to complete a Personal Income Declaration. You will need to calculate and provide 12–month totals of your support and expenditures. You may want to determine these amounts in advance of starting the application.
