SOCHE Steps for UC Students
If you are a UC student wishing to take a class at another SOCHE school via the Cross Registration process, please follow these steps.
Important! There are two forms with similar titles discussed on this page:
- UC's Consortium Cross–Registration Authorization Form → used by your program and the UC Registrar's Office to determine how the credit from the host SOCHE institution will transfer back to UC
- SOCHE Cross Registration Form → used by SOCHE schools to track and approve cross registration
1. Complete UC Cross-Registration Authorization Form
Fill out the UC Cross–Registration Authorization Form and sign it. (If you need assistance with filling out a PDF form, check out our Adobe Acrobat Reader Applications and Filling and Signing Electronic Forms links.)
- Obtain approval from your home college Assistant Dean/Academic Advisor (make certain the approval includes a course equivalency for the class being taken at the host institution)
- If you intend to have the course(s) count towards the requirements of your major, also obtain approval from the department
2. Email UC Cross-Registration Authorization Form to UC Registrar's Office
Send your completed UC Cross-Registration Authorization Form to registrar@uc.edu.
3. Sign the SOCHE Cross Registration Form
The UC Registrar's Office will send you a SOCHE Cross Registration Form to your UC email. Once received, sign the form. You will also need to have your Academic Advisor sign the form. Other schools will not accept the form without your signature. Once completed, return the signed SOCHE Cross Registration Form to registrar@uc.edu.
4. Your SOCHE Form Is Sent to the Host Institution Registrar's Office
The UC Registrar's Office will review your SOCHE Cross Registration Form and sign it if approved. The Registrar's Office will then send the SOCHE Cross Registration Form to the appropriate host institution's Registrar's Office to obtain their final approval. The host institution may reach out to you with additional instructions, so be sure to monitor your UC email.
5. You Are Enrolled in an MLTI Placeholder Class
The UC Registrar's Office will enroll you in a placeholder class.
- If you are taking an undergraduate class, you will be enrolled in MLTI 4081.
- If you are taking a graduate class, you will be enrolled in MLTI 6081.
- All students will be enrolled for the equivalent number of credit hours that will be transferred back to UC (e.g., if you will be receiving 3 credit hours for an undergraduate class taken at Cincinnati State, you will be enrolled in MLTI 4081 for 3 credit hours)
