Miguel's UHP Journey
Miguel Garcia, a double-major in International Business and Business Analytics, has used his time in the UHP as a launchpad to global leadership experiences. An LCB study-abroad course in Italy, with additional support from the UHP, pushed him to “keep pursuing opportunities that connect business with global collaboration”; Garcia recalls that semester as “a dream come true.”
Back on campus, Garcia built a self-designed honors experience around founding a new student organization: VivaF1, which supports international students in dealing with challenges from homesickness to filing taxes. VivaF1, which is now in its second year, has become a significant part of UC’s international-student community, even offering recommendations to improve available resources that the UC Professional Career Fair implemented.
As he looks beyond graduation, Garcia hopes to land a role as a data engineer, ideally at an international company. Wherever his path takes him, he is confident that he’ll be prepared to learn and grow along the way: “The UHP taught me to push myself, serve my community, and stay connected to those who encourage me to be the best version of myself.”
