PD2096: Designing a Career Path for the Greater Good

Description

Career development at U.S. universities has increasingly emphasized individual rather than collective benefit.  The focus has skewed toward the singular student’s ability to increase their economic and social mobility, with little regard for contribution toward the common good in their neighborhood, community, nation, or the world.

There's no doubt that it's critical for students to have the pragmatic tools to secure employment and navigate the work world, as well as the self-awareness that lead to more meaningful and purposeful work.  This course goes further as it guides students as they investigate how their career decisions can contribute to the greater good by addressing issues such as climate change, human trafficking, human rights, and multi-ethic and multi-religious appreciation.
