My UHP experience in five words
The opportunities are truly endless!
Why UHP is for me
The UHP provides me with opportunities I know I will love and surprises me with unexpectedly amazing experiences. Personally, I believe getting practical experiences are some of the most valuable types of education. Not only do they look great on a resume, but they also prepare a student for the reality of their chosen field. UHP pushes me to complete more experiences all while providing me with easy access to some amazing resources, including the experiences themselves.
The honors experience that made the biggest impact on me
The Tales of Resilience UHP experience has had the biggest impact on me. This experience is a semester long game of Dungeons and Dragons with other UHP peers. While on the surface this experience might seem not as educational as other options, this game was focused on understanding motivation, psychology, and the effects of classicism in society. I learned more about collaboration, empathy, planning, and flexibility in our game than in any other experience. The lessons of this experience are unique and undeniably fun. If a student does not know which experience to choose, I will always recommend Tales of Resilience.
If I could go back in time and give myself one piece of advice
I would advise anyone in their first semester in the UHP to research past honors experiences and find some that you would want to do in the future. By planning out which honors experiences I wanted to do to achieve my five, I was never stressed about the requirements. I even plan to exceed my five experiences now because of my planning. By starting research as soon as you are admitted into the UHP, the stress is as low as possible as you adjust to college.
What I'm most looking forward to this year
I am looking forward to learning all about experiences that I did not even know existed and to share my experiences with others. I know that the other UHP ambassadors have each had unique experiences, and I would love to learn about their work. For any students new to the UHP, I am excited to share my positive experiences and see them find their place in the UHP.
