My UHP experience in five words

Rewarding, Immersive, Transformational, Intellectually stimulating

Why UHP is for me

When I say that I came to UC mainly because of UHP, I really mean it. UHP has so many perks and such a unique outlook to developing a global citizen scholar that it was one of the things I was most looking forward to. UHP allows me to take a break from my rigorous academic schedule to help me create the college experience I always wanted. I can hone in on my passions such as photography, playing the guitar and creative writing all while getting a chance to travel, learn, and diversify my resume. Taking harder and more classes is going to give you a good academic background, but UHP aims to help you stand out from the rest by giving you a hollistic background so that you are better suited for any of your future endeavors, whether they be in your chosen field or outside of it!

Advice for anyone interested in UHP

If you are interested in the University Honors Program, I would say GO FOR IT!!! Getting credit to do something you truly enjoy or take classes that you wouldn't usually find in your curriculum or partake in mentored research is something that isn't provided to everyone. Being a part of the University Honors Program is a wonderful opportunity and although it may seem daunting at first, it will surely be worth your time and effort. You shouldn't be afraid of some extra work because at the end of the day all of these experiences are going to benefit you greatly in the future!

An honors experience I’ll never forget

As a first year ambassador, there are so many experiences I’m looking forward to! I’m a neuroscience major and unfortunately have only science and math related subjects this semester. I’m looking forward to broadening my horizons and diving into my creative side by taking part in the study abroad programs. I absolutely love to travel and explore new cultures, so to get to do that while also learning about a new field is something I’m beyond excited for! Not to mention, I’m an avid photographer so I can potentially make a self-designed experience that lets me consistently improve my (currently amateur) photography skills!

What my future holds

For me, an international pre-med student, the future is very uncertain. Nonetheless, what I do know is that UHP can get me as close as possible to my goal of becomming a neurologist through the various perks and opportunities it provides. I was very anxious about the profession I had chosen, but opporunities such as RaMP and the connections that UHP offers have allowed me to begin charting out an undergraduate plan to get into medical school. UHP has helped me make my future goals more clear and has also made them much more achievable, allowing me regain the confidence I need to ultimately reach my end goal!
